Top Five is a series of five silkscreen prints related to the award ribbons given in childhood competitions. While the ribbons were meant to convey an order of success, in the innocence of youth, collecting one of each was more interesting than five red. This negates the hierarchy of competition we adhere to as adults where the subtly of colours are replaced by clearly defined associations of value, most evident in the actual worth of gold, silver and bronze.
